This page covers the practical side of buying from Cars For You: reservations, payment, paperwork, collection, test drives, part exchange and what to check before travelling to the showroom.
Vehicle availability
Vehicles shown online are part of our current advertised stock, but availability can change during the day. A car may be reserved, sold, undergoing preparation or temporarily away from the main showroom.
If you are travelling specifically to see one vehicle, call first and quote the CFY stock reference shown on the listing.
Reservations
Selected vehicles can be reserved for a short period while a customer arranges travel, an inspection, payment or collection. Reservation terms depend on the vehicle and circumstances.
A reservation does not automatically mean the vehicle has been fully purchased. The sales team will explain how long the car can be held and what is required to complete the transaction.
Deposits
A holding deposit may be requested when a vehicle is taken off general sale for a customer. The amount and terms are confirmed before payment is made.
Do not send money to bank details received from an unverified third party. If you are unsure whether payment instructions are genuine, call the showroom using the telephone number published on this website.
Payment
The normal method for settling a vehicle purchase is bank transfer. Funds must be received and confirmed before the vehicle is released.
Other payment arrangements may be possible depending on the amount and transaction. Speak to the sales team before arriving if you intend to use anything other than a standard bank transfer.
Cash payments
Large cash payments are not encouraged and may not be accepted. Contact us before travelling if cash forms any significant part of the intended payment.
Collection
Collection should be arranged with the sales team rather than assumed immediately after payment. We need time to confirm funds, complete paperwork and prepare the vehicle for handover.
Same-day collection can sometimes be arranged, particularly on cars already prepared for sale, but this depends on timing and workload.
What you should bring
What you need depends on whether you are viewing, test-driving, part-exchanging or collecting a vehicle.
- Driving licence Bring a valid licence if you want to test-drive a vehicle.
- Part-exchange details Bring your V5C information, service history, current mileage, keys and any finance settlement details relevant to your car.
- Insurance Make sure suitable insurance is in place before driving away after collection.
- Payment information If paying by bank transfer, make sure your bank allows the required payment amount and that any daily transfer limit has been checked beforehand.
Test drives
Test drives are available on most retail vehicles once appropriate driving-licence checks have been completed.
Some high-performance, high-value or specialist vehicles may have additional requirements. In those cases we may ask for an appointment and a discussion with a member of the sales team first.
Independent inspections
Independent inspections are welcome if arranged with us in advance. You can use a mechanic, engineer or recognised vehicle inspection service.
The inspection should take place at the dealership unless another arrangement has been specifically agreed.
Mechanical condition
Used vehicles naturally vary by age and mileage. A newer daily car and a twenty-year-old enthusiast vehicle should not be judged by identical cosmetic expectations.
If condition is especially important to you, ask us directly about wheels, tyres, bodywork, interior wear, paint condition, warning lights and any known faults before travelling.
Vehicle history
Available service-history records differ from car to car. Some vehicles have traditional stamped books, some have invoices, some use digital manufacturer records and older cars may have extensive mixed history files.
Ask about the exact vehicle if you need to know what documentation is present.
Part exchange
If you want to use your current vehicle as part payment, we can usually give an initial estimate from its registration, mileage and general details.
The final valuation is confirmed only after physically inspecting the vehicle.
Outstanding finance on your car
A vehicle with outstanding finance can still sometimes be part exchanged, but the finance position must be disclosed and an up-to-date settlement figure will be required.
The exact handling of the settlement will be agreed as part of the transaction.
Private registration numbers
If your part-exchange vehicle has a private registration that you intend to retain, arrange the appropriate DVLA process before final handover.
Tell us in advance if a private registration is involved so the paperwork and vehicle records are not unnecessarily delayed.
Delivery
Delivery is available on selected vehicles after payment and paperwork have been completed.
- Local delivery Short-distance delivery within Birmingham and parts of the West Midlands may be possible depending on staff availability.
- Long-distance delivery Mainland UK transport can be quoted individually according to distance and vehicle type.
- Specialist vehicles Low, performance or valuable vehicles may require a suitable transporter rather than being driven to the customer.
- Timing Delivery dates are agreed after the vehicle is ready and cleared payment has been received.
Vehicle specifications and advertisements
We make reasonable efforts to describe vehicles accurately, but used-car specifications can vary by registration date, optional equipment, previous modifications and manufacturer updates.
If a particular feature is essential to your purchase, confirm it with us directly rather than relying solely on a photograph or short online specification.
Mileage
Advertised mileage is the recorded mileage when the listing is prepared. It may increase slightly through test drives, preparation or vehicle movement.
Photographs
Vehicle photographs are intended to show the general appearance and specification of the advertised car. Colour can appear differently depending on lighting, screen settings and camera conditions.
Final checks
Before completing a purchase, confirm the vehicle identity, agreed price, specification, collection arrangements and any specifically agreed work.
